We have been a member of the Hudaco group since 1988, when Hudaco purchased Belting Supply Services.
Belting Supply Services’ (BSS) success over the last 60 years has been driven by leading brands, a strong product range, and highly trained management and staff, who have an average of 20 years’ service and experience within the company.
BSS was established in 1963 by Mr Hayter in Langlaagte and now operates from a 10,000m2 facility situated in City Deep. The business sucesfully grew from the outset which lead to various branches been opened in multiple areas throughout South Africa. It was acquired by Hudaco in 1988 as part of the Frencorp acquisition.
Initially, it specialised in transmission products such as V-belts, V-pulleys, taper bushes, couplings, gearboxes, and chain, later becoming a stockist of rubber conveyor belting. In 1968, BSS was appointed sole distributor for major, international brand for Southern Africa for conveyor and transmission belting. In 1978, it acquired a conveyor manufacturing plant from Brenflex in Australia and began manufacturing a unique PVC conveyor belt branded Trekflex. From then until the closure of the plant in 2012, BSS was the only manufacturer of “ply” PVC conveyor belting in Southern Africa.
In 1995, KZN-based business Swift Industrial Supplies was merged into BSS, bringing industrial hose into the product offering across all nine branches in South Africa. BSS was appointed the sole distributor in Southern Africa for NCR hose, which carries the SABS stamp of approval. Industrial hose now contributes about 25% of BSS’s turnover.
In 2007, SA Hose and Belting (Cape Town and Port Elizabeth) was also acquired to expand our heavy-duty offering. In 2008, Belting Supply Services acquired BEP Bestobell to expand our product range to include instrumentation, valves, and sealing. Since 2008 BSS has been a sustainable trustworthy operation dedicated to servicing our client needs and requirements dedicating by our service and delivery. The continuous delivery of product and services has been a focus of the business, with the goal of ensuring our client continuous efficient production output is achieved.
